Re-upholstery is obviously easier than upholstery. As you take the original fabric off the chair or settee/sofa, you take notes and mark each piece, as well as taking photographs, so that you can reverse the order when you re-upholster. Even taking it back to the springs is not as daunting as one might seem. I have taken chairs and settees back to their bare wood now more than a dozen times. Each time you learn more. If you are looking for a highly professional job that will be scrutinised top to bottom then you may want to send it off to an upholsterer. I bought a basic toolkit some 15 years ago, and have never looked back.
