My wonderful friend Caroline gave me this old chaise longue that she had owned for years, but never had time to reupholster. It has beautiful lines, but needed to be completely remade. If you are looking for your first upholstery project, I would not select a chaise longue, but rather an overstuffed seat, box cushion or at most a wingback chair. This project took me a long time, and involved replacing the webbing and springs of this lovely old piece of furniture. If a professional upholsterer were to look at this, he or she would find many errors, but "done is better than perfect" and up-cycled is better than discarded and replaced with a shop bought piece. If that's not enough to convince you, it is immensely satisfying.
